Episode 3: It’s OK to be Kei

Episode Summary & Review
Prompted by a chat with James May about how fat modern cars have become, the trio import Japan’s tiniest category of car, the kei car, to the United States. An Autozam AZ-1, a Suzuki Alto and a Honda Acty pickup drive from Wyoming, where tiny cars are legal, into Colorado, where they are absolutely not, ending with a run up Pikes Peak.
Our take: the funniest episode of the season. Watching grown men fold themselves into shoeboxes with engines is Grand Tour DNA, and the legal trouble brewing as state lines approach gives it stakes. Bourgeois in a kei van is the image of the year.
