The Grand Tour Season 7
Season 7 Review
Season 7 is the big gamble. Clarkson, Hammond and May walked away in 2024 and Amazon handed the keys to three internet-native petrolheads: Thomas Holland and James Engelsman, the duo behind Throttle House, and Francis Bourgeois, the trainspotting TikToker with the world’s most contagious enthusiasm. All six episodes dropped at once on September 4, 2026.
The opener sets the tone. The new trio drive to Jeremy Clarkson’s Cotswolds pub, The Farmer’s Dog, and ask for the old Grand Tour tent back. His blessing comes with a warning: don’t mess it up. Then it’s off to California for American muscle, Bombay Beach, a Jenson Button guest turn at the Thermal Club, and a relay race against aerobatic jets.
The honest read: it is good television that has not fully decided what it is yet. The Independent called the opener fine but safe, missing the old chaos, with the new hosts sometimes stilted on camera. TechRadar’s take is warmer, noting the original trio’s fingerprints are all over the production and that Clarkson, who has watched his successors closely for a year and a half, thinks they are very, very good. The Throttle House pair have a decade of real chemistry to build on, and Bourgeois is the wildcard who makes the whole thing feel less corporate.
If you loved the old show for the bickering, give the new one a few episodes to find its feet. If you just want beautiful cars in beautiful places, it delivers that from minute one.
