Before ReBoot made toy box money, Mainframe Entertainment built this: four warring planets forced to team up when a literal planet eater called the Beast Planet comes calling. Genres rarely mixed this well in 1998, part space opera, part survival horror, all done in early CGI that somehow still reads as stylish.
Known as War Planets in the US, and it is one of the great forgotten Canadian animated series. Grim stakes, real character deaths, and a cliffhanger that never got resolved because the toys did not sell.
Our take: 7.8/10. TheCGI era’s best space war that nobody talks about.
