The 2011 Cartoon Network reboot that took everything great about the original and gave it real stakes, serialized storytelling, and animation that finally matched the epic feel the 80s version always reached for. Lion O, Tygra, and Cheetara were reimagined with actual character arcs, Mumm ra was genuinely terrifying, and the worldbuilding dug deep into Third Earth’s history.
Then Cartoon Network cancelled it after one season and left the story hanging, which remains one of the most infuriating cancellations of the era. What exists is excellent. What could have been still stings.
Our take: 7.5/10.
