Summary
When King Alfred of Wessex hears about the arrival of the sons of Ragnar, with an army, he knows he must take drastic action. So as the Viking army makes camp and lies in wait, Alfred and his army abandon the Royal Villa and march to meet them.
Our Take
This is a slow-burn hour that spends most of its time building tension before the big fight, and honestly the buildup works better than you’d expect. Alfred’s unease gives the episode its spine, though a few scenes drag and feel like stalling. Worth watching, just don’t expect much action until the final minutes.
