Summary
In the season two finale, the U.S.S. Cerritos is tasked to aid an Excelsior class starship on a first contact mission.
Our Take
A surprisingly satisfying finale that trades the usual gag density for actual stakes, and it mostly works. The Armageddon-style drilling sequence is a fun change of pace, Mariner finally gets some growth, and the cliffhanger ending earns its drama. A few jokes still land awkwardly against the heavier material, but it’s a solid hour that leaves you wanting season three immediately.
