Episode Summary & Review
Summary
In the season one finale, Kenny says goodbye to his life as a schoolteacher–and bids farewell to Dustin and his family–after he’s tendered a big league job offer in Tampa.
Our Take
A sloppy, oddly sentimental wrap-up that wants Kenny’s farewell to land as both pathetic and poignant, and mostly manages neither. The pacing drags in the middle stretch, though Danny McBride still gets a few good cringe laughs out of the goodbye scenes. Worth it if you’ve come this far, but it’s the weakest chapter of the season.
