Crusoe

Our Review
A big swings island adventure from 2008 that tried to turn Robinson Crusoe into an action series: sword fights, pirates, treasure maps, flashbacks to his life in England, and a gorgeous island set built in Yorkshire. Philip Winchester makes a game hero and Sam Neill clearly enjoys being sinister in the flashbacks.
It looks more expensive than most shows of its era, and the mysteries pile on fast. The problem is it was cancellation bait from day one: Friday nights on NBC, a serialized island mystery one year after Lost made that look easy. It got one season and a rushed ending.
What is here is better than its reputation. If you like old school adventure with modern pacing, it is an easy weekend watch.
Our take: 6.5/10.
