The 1981 BBC adaptation of Douglas Adams’ masterpiece is lo fi in the way only BBC sci fi of the era could be, and it is perfect because of it, not despite it. The animated Guide sequences were genuinely visionary, and the deadpan delivery of the end of the world as bureaucracy holds up completely.
Every version of this story is worth your time and this one is the ancestor of them all. Don’t panic.
