Dark Matter
Our Review
The Apple TV+ sci-fi hit based on Blake Crouch’s novel. A physicist is knocked out one night and wakes up in a life that is not his: same city, same wife, but the choices went differently. The multiverse concept is handled with the tightest internal logic on television, and the show plays it as an emotionally brutal thriller rather than a spectacle machine.
Joel Edgerton carries it in multiple roles (the premise demands it), Jennifer Connelly matches him, and Alice Braga anchors the moral core. Season 1 is a complete adaptation of the book; Season 2, airing now with new episodes weekly through October, pushes past the novel into new territory and has been holding the quality bar.
This is the thinking person’s multiverse show: no quips, no cameo parades, just consequence after consequence landing on people you care about.
Our take: 8/10. The best sci-fi thriller currently airing.
