Summary

Walt moves to protect his secret and Gus; Skyler is stymied in her attempt to help Ted with his financial problem.

Our Take

The crawl space. Skyler, cornered by Ted’s IRS problem, sends the laundered money to Ted — most of it — and when Walt, fleeing Gus’s death threat, crawls under the house to get the escape fund, he finds the hole where $600,000 used to be. The laugh that follows — full-body, unhinged, rising from the dirt — is the most terrifying sound in the series: sanity leaving the building. The episode’s crosscutting (Ted’s accident by Huell and Kuby, Skyler’s frozen face, Walt under the house) is a masterclass.
