Summary
Skyler devises a plan to cure her money woes; Hank recruits Walt to help him work out a theory, while Walt grows impatient with Jesse.
Our Take
The Gus flashback: young Gustavo Fring and his partner Max presenting meth to Don Eladio in 1989, and the pool where Max’s blood spreads as Gus, held down, watches. The cartel’s message, this is what happens to interlopers, becomes the origin of everything: Gus’s chicken empire, his patience, his twenty year revenge. In the present, Hank follows the shell company trail to Pollos Hermanos while Gus plays the harmless businessman perfectly. The season’s best hour of pure chess.
