Summary

Hank’s stay in the hospital is accompanied by some daunting bills, but Skyler thinks she has a way of dealing with them. Meanwhile, some of the problems between Walt and Gus are ameliorated; and Jesse seeks more independence and grabs a profitable opportunity that presents itself.

Our Take

Gus’s cartel maneuvering goes continental: he uses the cousins as his weapon, then sacrifices them to Hank’s gun, and now the cartel needs replacing — a project Walt is meant to supply. Skyler pitches the car wash purchase to Walt as a business plan and, in doing so, becomes the show’s second criminal: a wife laundering money with spreadsheet precision and a surprising appetite for it. The season’s engine turns: family as accomplices, empire as inheritance.
