Summary
Seeking answers, the U.S.S. Discovery ventures into a subspace rift created by the Dark Matter Anomaly. Meanwhile, Book faces a strange visitor from his past.
Our Take
This is a moody, atmospheric hour that leans on mood over momentum, and it mostly gets away with it. The ship-in-jeopardy material looks great but moves slowly, while Book’s visitor storyline gives the episode its emotional core. Some of the crew drama feels padded, though. Worth watching for the visuals and the Book material, just don’t expect much plot to actually happen.
