Our Review

Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’s comic about the Locke family — three siblings who move into their murdered father’s ancestral home, Keyhouse, and discover magical keys that unlock doors to anywhere, memories, identities, and death itself — gets a handsome adaptation. The comic is horror; the show is a teen fantasy-adventure with horror furniture, and the shift softens the material’s darkness, but the keys themselves — the Anywhere Key, the Head Key (walking into your own mind is the show’s best visual), the Identity Key, the Omega Key — are translated with real imagination.

Season 1 (the Dodge cat-and-mouse) is the best: the mystery of who Dodge really is plays fair, and the sibling chemistry (Emilia Jones’s Kinsey, Connor Jessup’s Tyler, Jackson Robert Scott’s Bode) carries it. Season 2’s Gabe-arc twist divides fans; season 3 closes the story properly — a rare completed Netflix adaptation — with a finale that earns its tears. It’s the Goosebumps to Stranger Things‘ IT — lighter, but crafted with care.

Verdict: Watch it with a teen or your inner one. The keys are fun; the family is the point.
