Reacher
Our Review
The most satisfying action show on TV, and the most faithful adaptation Lee Child’s novels could ask for. Alan Ritchson IS Jack Reacher — 6’5″, 240 pounds of ex-military-police drifter who walks into towns, breaks conspiracies, and walks out, a hulking angel of quantitative violence with a detective’s brain and no possessions beyond a toothbrush. Season 1 (Killing Floor) drops him in Margrave, Georgia, where he’s arrested for murder within an hour and dismantles a counterfeiting ring with methodical brutality; season 2 reunites his old MP unit to hunt whoever is killing them; season 3 goes undercover to rescue an asset from a monstrous arms dealer.
The formula is comfort-food perfection: corrupt town, Reacher notices details, villains monologue, henchmen get folded like laundry. The fights are brutal and spatially coherent — every blow lands like physics. The supporting cast (Malcolm Goodwin’s Finlay, Maria Sten’s Neagley — the franchise’s MVP) gives the show warmth. It’s procedural action without mythology or pretension: a man helps people, leaves, and the show knows exactly what it is.
Verdict: Watch it. Hope for the best, plan for Reacher.
