Our Review
The expanded-League sequel where the training wheels came off. Unlimited grew the roster to 60+ heroes (Green Arrow, the Question, Black Canary, Huntress, Booster Gold) and let the deep cuts carry episodes. Double Date (the Question and Huntress, a romance in four fists), The Greatest Story Never Told (Booster Gold saving the world while nobody watches), Epilogue (the true ending of Batman Beyond, one of the finest half hours of animation ever made).
The season long Cadmus arc is the best superhero TV serial ever produced: the League versus a government watchdog program, with Amanda Waller (CCH Pounder, definitive) as an antagonist who’s arguably right, Lex Luthor running for president, and a finale that resolves four series’ worth of DCAU mythology. Dwayne McDuffie’s writing staff used the infinite roster to tell stories the big seven couldn’t, and that made the universe feel real.
Verdict: Watch it. The best superhero television series ever produced. That’s not nostalgia, it’s the standings.
