Our Review

Christy Karacas’s follow-up to Superjail! is a hyper-violent anime parody about post-apocalyptic sports: in the year 9009, Earth is a wasteland, and humanity entertains itself with The Game — a blood sport where teams fight for a ball and survival. The star is Gaz Digzy, a washed-up, alcoholic, pathologically arrogant athlete voiced with full commitment by Dana Snyder, forced to coach the Leptons, the worst team in the league.

The style is the draw: kinetic anime tropes cranked to seizure frequency, grotesque character designs, and Titmouse studios at their most unhinged. The humor is as abrasive as the art — Gaz is a terrible person who grows just enough to be tolerable — but the show has a weird sincerity about its found-family of losers. Season 2 doubles down on the lore and goes full cosmic. It’s an acquired taste served at maximum volume.

Verdict: Watch it if your tolerance for Titmouse chaos is high. It’s a party in your eyeballs; some guests will hate the music.
