The High Republic mystery that took the boldest swing of the Disney era: a string of Jedi killings, a former-Padawan suspect (Amandla Stenberg’s Mae) and the twin sister hunting her, interrogating the Order’s golden age from underneath. The thesis — delivered by the Stranger (Manny Jacinto, the best thing in it: a Sith who’s chosen his own path) and the Brendok coven flashback — is that the Jedi were the institution that broke these children first.

The four-episode flashback (the witch mothers, Sol’s fatal choice) is the show’s high point — genuine tragedy with real stakes. The finale’s plot machinery collapses under the mystery’s weight, and the cancellation left it unresolved. But the best fight choreography of the Disney era (the Stranger vs. the Jedi posse in the forest) and the ambition deserve better than the discourse gave it.

Verdict: Watch it for the fights and the flashbacks; know going in there’s no season 2.
