Tracker Season 4 Is Being Repiloted as the CBS Hit Changes Its Look

Tracker is back for Season 4 on CBS, and showrunner Elwood Reid says the team is essentially repiloting the Justin Hartley hit, with a move to Los Angeles, a new look and morally darker cases for Colter Shaw.

Justin Hartley’s tracking drama is back for Season 4 on CBS, and the people behind it are calling the change something bigger than a new season. Showrunner Elwood Reid told ScreenRant that the team is “essentially repiloting” the series, from the look of the show to the kind of cases Colter Shaw now takes on.

The most visible shift is geography. Production moved from Vancouver, where the first three seasons were filmed, to Los Angeles, backed by the California tax incentive program. The Season 4 premiere, which aired Oct. 4, opens that new chapter with a case at the Port of Los Angeles. Reid says the jobs will “get into some morally darker gray areas” and hints at a longer storyline tied to a bigger bad guy.

The family element stays in place. Hartley leads a returning cast that includes Fiona Rene, Chris Lee and Sofia Pernas, with Cassady McClincy Zhang promoted to series regular and Jensen Ackles back as Russell, Colter’s brother, after the sting left at the end of Season 3. New episodes air Sundays on CBS and stream on Paramount+.
