Our Review

The sequel series jumps a decade: it’s 1991, and the Camp Firewood gang, now adults with careers, marriages, and regrets, reunites to save the camp from being sold. The plot is whatever the jokes need: a political conspiracy, a wedding that keeps not happening, and each cast member now playing ten years older than the characters they played in First Day of Camp, which took place before the original movie, where they were teens, played by the same adults. The temporal absurdity is the meta joke and the show leans into it.

Alyssa Milano joins, Adam Scott takes over Bradley Cooper’s role (playing the same character with a different actor, acknowledged on screen as a running gag about plastic surgery), and the escalation keeps the machine running. It’s messier than First Day, the callbacks lean harder, the new material lands softer, but the committed cast keeps it afloat. It closes the trilogy with the same deranged energy it started with, which is all anyone could ask.

Verdict: Watch it if you loved the first. The fire burns lower, but it still burns.
