Our Review
Sylvester Stallone finally comes to television, and it turns out he is perfect for it. He plays Dwight Manfredi, a New York mafia capo who gets out of prison after 25 years and is exiled to Tulsa, Oklahoma to establish territory nobody wanted. The premise is a fish out of water story with a body count: a man out of time, in a place out of his league, building an empire out of a weed shop and a bail bonds office.
Stallone’s movie-star ease carries the whole thing. The supporting cast (Andrea Savage as the agent on his tail, Martin Starr as his reluctant business partner) plays it straight while he charms, threatens, and occasionally throws people off balconies. Taylor Sheridan’s fingerprints are on the pacing. It is not prestige television, it is a good time with a legend, and it knows exactly what it is.
