Amazon’s version swaps joke density for heart: Peter Serafinowicz’s Tick is an amnesiac demigod in a blue suit moving to a city that runs on supervillain bureaucracy, and the show builds a serialized mystery around the character instead of a punchline. It is the most sentimental Tick, the most gorgeous (the suit is a character), and the most grown up about why people need heroes.
The first season’s villain is a genuinely good twist, the second opens the mythology wide before Amazon cut it to two seasons, leaving an arc that ends in the middle of a sentence. Serafinowicz does the physical comedy with total commitment, Griffin Newman’s Arthur is the anxious heart, and the theme song survives all three versions.
