The Pentaverate
Our Review
Mike Myers playing eight roles in a conspiracy comedy about a secret society of five men who’ve been steering the world since the Black Plague — and if that sentence thrills you, the show delivers exactly what it promises. Myers (as a Canadian reporter, a billionaire mentor, a conspiracy theorist, and more) investigates the Pentaverate after their newest member is murdered, and the whole thing plays like an Austin Powers-adjacent lark with SNL sketch pacing stretched to series length.
The supporting cast — Jennifer Saunders as the society’s enforcer, Keegan-Michael Key, Debi Mazar, Ken Jeong — commits to the bit. The jokes about the Illuminati-adjacent cabal are hit-or-miss in classic Myers fashion: when it hits, it’s very funny; when it misses, you’re watching a 59-year-old man do silly voices for an hour. Six episodes, one season, no sequel.
Verdict: Watch it if you’re a Myers completist. A bag of chips: enjoyable, forgettable, mildly salty.
