Our Review

The Matt Reeves Bat-verse expanded into a crime saga: Oz Cobb (Colin Farrell, unrecognizable and unstoppable — the performance of the year under the prosthetics), Gotham’s mid-tier mobster, seizes the power vacuum after Carmine Falcone’s death, and the show is a Sopranos-grade rise-to-power tragedy. Sofia Falcone (Cristin Milioti, the show’s co-lead and tragic core: the institutionalized daughter returned, and the show’s most sympathetic monster) matches him scene for scene.

The Gotham texture (the movie’s flood aftermath as the city’s misery backdrop), the writing’s refusal to soften either lead, and the finale — the crown, the cost — position everything for The Batman Part II while standing alone as one of the best crime shows of the decade. Farrell and Milioti are untouchable.

Verdict: Watch it. The best thing with a Bat-logo on it since the Nolan trilogy.
