Cloak & Dagger
Our Review
The most underrated Marvel show: Tandy (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone (Aubrey Joseph), two New Orleans teenagers linked by a shared childhood tragedy — the Roxxon rig collapse that killed his brother and her father — and by powers that mirror each other: her light-daggers, his darkness-teleportation. The show uses the powers as metaphor (her white-flight privilege, his Black-teenage reality of policing and suspicion) and its real subject is New Orleans: post-Katrina class wounds, trauma bonding two kids from opposite sides of the city.
The first season (the church… the Roxxon conspiracy) is confident, moody teen noir; the second goes deeper into the city’s mythology. Canceled after two seasons, both complete. The best live-action Marvel show nobody watched.
Verdict: Watch it — a genuine teen noir with New Orleans as its soul.
