Glen Powell does double duty as Russ Holliday, a hotshot quarterback whose college career detonated eight years ago, and Chad Powers, the mustachioed walk on alter ego he invents to sneak back onto a roster. Cocreated with Loki’s Michael Waldron from Eli Manning’s ESPN bit, it’s a sports comedy with real teeth: the prosthetic disguise is played for laughs, but the desperation underneath, a guy risking everything for one more shot, keeps it honest.
The supporting cast is the quiet MVP: Steve Zahn’s washed up coach, Perry Mattfeld, Quentin Plair, and Frankie A. Rodriguez as the Catfish orbit around Powell’s two in-one performance. Smart writing, real football texture, and a leading man clearly having the time of his life. Season 2 premiered September 3, 2026 on Hulu.
