Betrayed, I Mated the Dragon Prince

Our Review

What Happens

Audrey is a spirit-deer shifter raised by the Lockwood family. The two Lockwood sons, Vincent and Damian, grow up beside her, and both are fated to be her mates. That settled future falls apart the week a transfer student named Manya arrives.

Manya works dark magic on the brothers until they turn on the girl they were raised with, and Audrey goes from cherished to tormented in her own home. With nobody left on her side, she looks beyond the Lockwoods and turns to Sebastian, a dragon prince nobody at the academy takes seriously. The betrayal isn’t a misunderstanding and the show refuses to let the brothers off it with a spell as their excuse; the fated-mate bond becomes the thing Audrey has to survive.

Our take: fated-mates is the religion of this genre, and this is the rare entry that treats the belief itself as the trap. 9.5 on the app, our highest-rated shifter here, and the final quarter makes the brothers earn or lose their seats honestly.

What’s in it (content guide)

Content note: Adult material: fated-mate pairings between adults, implied bedroom scenes. The middle act is sustained emotional abuse: the two men who were raised with the heroine turn on her and torment her. Fantasy violence. No minors in romantic context.
