Season 2 Review

In S2, after a bittersweet victory saving the Northern Water Tribe from the invading Fire Nation, Avatar Aang, Katara and Sokka regroup and set off on a mission to convince the elusive Earth King to aid in their battle against fearsome Fire Lord Ozai.

Season Review

The masterpiece season: the Earth Kingdom arc, Toph’s introduction (the greatest earthbender alive, a blind girl who sees with her feet), Azula’s hunt, and the Ba Sing Se story — the show’s defining achievement. The brainwashing Dai Li, the Tales of Ba Sing Se (Iroh’s “Leaves from the vine” — the most devastating four minutes in animation), and the finale: Aang’s lightning death at Azula’s hands, the Avatar State severed, the Earth Kingdom fallen. The darkest season, ending at the story’s lowest point.
