Revenge Marriage Sweet Love
Our Review
Rebecca has taken two things from her sister Cate: the boyfriend, Ethan, and the inheritance. One night, after too many drinks, Cate picks her weapon: she will go after Shaun, Ethan’s good-looking uncle.
It backfires in the way the genre requires. Shaun is cold with everyone except her, falls for her completely, and what began as a revenge strike turns into a marriage and something close to the real thing. The fault line stays live the whole time: Cate’s original motive is sitting under the floorboards, and if Shaun learns why she first came to him, everything gets tested.
Our take: an old-timer by app standards (2023) still sitting on the Top Hits shelf this week at 189 million views, because the premise gives the heroine a real sin to pay for instead of making her a saint. Best single element: the countdown structure, the audience knows what Shaun doesn’t, and every tender scene has a fuse on it. The catch: the sister is a cartoon and the reconciliation laps the redemption quota about three times over.
Verdict: 7/10. The revenge-into-marriage trope at its tightest, 48 quick episodes. Watch it if you like your heroine culpable.
