The Naruto franchise is expanding. During a panel at New York Comic Con on Saturday, creators announced a brand new anime television series plus a new manga from original author Masashi Kishimoto titled Shadow Rising.
The anime, titled NARUTOxNINKU, is a crossover with the NINKU property created by Koji Kiriyama, and both Kiriyama and Kishimoto supervise the project. The premise sends Team 7 members Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura on a mission assigned by Kakashi, with Naruto acting as leader. The team winds up lost in another world, where they meet a boy with a face resembling a frog named Fusuke.
No premiere date or platform has been announced yet. The announcement lands during the 20th anniversary stretch of the franchise, which has been quiet on the anime side since Boruto. More details are expected in the coming months.
