High Potential Gets the Post-Super Bowl LXI Slot on ABC

ABC slots High Potential right after Super Bowl LXI on February 14, 2027, with a planned two-parter and a Disney+ simulcast.

ABC will put its biggest drama straight after the Big Game. High Potential lands in the coveted lead-out slot following Super Bowl LXI on Sunday, February 14, 2027, and the episode will stream on Disney+ alongside its ABC broadcast.

The news was announced Monday night through a promo starring Kaitlin Olson in front of the show’s signature murder board, which aired during Monday Night Football. Per Deadline, the network is planning a Grey’s Anatomy-style two-parter: the Super Bowl episode is Part 1 and ends on a cliffhanger, resolved in Part 2 in the show’s regular Tuesday slot the following week. This is not the Season 3 premiere. The third season arrives as part of ABC’s midseason lineup, with no debut date announced yet.

The slot carries big shoes. ABC’s last Super Bowl broadcast in February 2006 handed its lead-out to Grey’s Anatomy, whose bomb-themed two-part opener drew 38.1 million viewers, one of the most talked-about lead-outs in Big Game history. The most recent scripted try was CBS’s Tracker premiere after the 2024 game, which pulled 18.44 million. Whether Morgan can ride the same wave comes down to what ABC does with the cliffhanger.
