Summary
The Top Gear team put the Mitsubishi Evo VIII and the Subaru Impreza STi head to head to discover which is the king of the road going rally cars. We also put Vauxhall’s VX220 Turbo through its paces, James sets out to beat the caravan towing speed record and Richard Whiteley is the ‘Star in a Reasonably Priced Car’.
Our Take
A solid hour built around the Evo versus Subaru showdown, which is exactly the kind of gearhead argument this show does best. James’s caravan record attempt delivers the laughs, though the VX220 segment feels like filler. Richard Whiteley’s interview is charmingly shambolic. Worth it for the rally car battle alone.
