Summary
Hired as Meicho Shimbun’s first American crime reporter, Jake Adelstein is quickly tasked with covering two cases that initially appear unrelated, but soon stakes his career, and life, on connecting the dots.
Our Take
A confident pilot that sells Tokyo as a place where every neon alley feels like a trap waiting to spring. Ansel Elgort is a bit bland in the lead, but Ken Watanabe grounds every scene he’s in, and the moody pacing builds real tension without rushing. Worth your time if you like slow-burn crime.
