Summary
As The Orville heads towards Moclus for Bortus’ special once-a-year ceremony, Ed discovers Kelly has moved on and has started dating. Meanwhile, Gordon asks for John’s help in getting game, and Claire turns to Isaac for parenting advice.
Our Take
A relaxed season opener that trades plot for character downtime, and it mostly works. The Bortus urination ceremony gets some solid deadpan laughs, while Ed’s moping over Kelly drags more than the show seems to realize. It’s a pleasant, low-stakes hour, though you won’t miss much if you skip it.
