Episode Summary & Review
Summary
The series premiere of this cartoon about a bold and rebellious teenage girl who undergoes training to become a fully realized Avatar, Korra arrives in Republic City and discovers it’s a dangerous place for benders.
Our Take
A confident, well-paced premiere that establishes Korra as a hotheaded lead you actually want to follow, even if her escape-from-compound setup feels a bit rushed. The city itself steals the show with its 1920s-inspired design and political tension. A few clunky exposition dumps slow things down, but it’s a strong start worth your time.
