Summary
During a mission in space, Superman discovers a massive humanoid stone giant named the Prometheon latched to an asteroid. Prometheon’s restraints break loose and he plummets to Metropolis. It causes devastation and accumulates energy by sucking up heat from firepower and power plants. The episode is named after Prometheus, who stole fire from the Greek gods.
Our Take
This one’s a fairly dull monster-of-the-week affair, with the giant walking around absorbing heat while Superman repeatedly fails to stop it. The premise has some potential but the middle stretch is just the same fight beat over and over. It picks up a little once the solution comes into play, though the ending feels rushed. Fine background viewing, but skippable.
