Summary
Brainiac, once Krypton’s all knowing planetary computer, comes to Earth as part of his information gathering trek across the galaxy, and partners with Lex Luthor on the basis of giving technological progress to humanity. But, as Superman discovers, Brainiac’s intent after gathering the world’s knowledge is to destroy Earth.
Our Take
Brainiac’s debut has a genuinely cold menace to him, and the Krypton connection gives Superman a personal stake that the series hasn’t tried before. The problem is the middle stretch, which leans on Luthor deal-making scenes that go exactly where you expect. Decent setup episode with a few strong moments, but it mostly feels like table-setting for a bigger fight later.
