Against Pearl’s wishes, Steven becomes determined to get stronger after watching Garnet and Amethyst fuse into the mighty Sugilite.
Our Take
A fairly simple morality episode that leans hard on Steven’s wide-eyed enthusiasm, which gets charming but repetitive results. Sugilite’s debut is the real draw, a genuinely menacing fusion with a great voice performance, though the workout montage stuff at the beach drags. Worth a watch for the fusion lore alone, just don’t expect much depth beyond the obvious lesson about strength.
