Only a jealous scientist can save Spock when he goes mad after seeing a hideous Medusan.
Our Take
A weird, moody hour that leans hard on its ideas about beauty and madness rather than action. Diana Muldaur holds things together nicely, and the mind-meld gone wrong gives Nimoy some good material, though the jealous scientist subplot feels padded. The visual design is striking for 1968 even if the effects show their age. Worth a look for the atmosphere alone.
