Summary
Inmates gain control of an insane asylum, taking visiting Kirk and Spock prisoner.
Our Take
A solid villain episode carried almost entirely by Steve Ihnat, who clearly relishes playing a megalomaniac with shapeshifting powers. The “which one is the real Kirk” standoff near the end is genuinely tense, even if the asylum setting feels cheap and some of the acting leans theatrical. Not essential, but a fun hour if you like watching Kirk get outsmarted before he doesn’t.
