Summary
The Enterprise tries to intercept a Romulan warship that is testing the Federation’s defenses along the Neutral Zone separating the two.
Our Take
A tense submarine-style chase episode that still holds up, with Mark Lenard doing quiet, dignified work as the Romulan commander. The parallels between Kirk and his adversary land well, though the Spock romance subplot and the racist crewman feel like padding. Slower than modern viewers might expect, but the standoff has real weight. Worth your time.
