Summary
Picard becomes intrigued and then involved with a brilliant new crew member, creating complications when a potentially deadly mission arises.
Our Take
This one aims for a quiet character study, and Patrick Stewart sells the romance better than most TNG attempts at love stories. The problem is Nella Daren never feels like a full person, more like a plot device built to challenge Picard. The crisis-of-command material lands well, but the ending wraps things up too neatly. Worth a watch for Picard fans, but it won’t stick with you.
