Summary
Picard finds himself attracted to a beautiful woman being given as a gift to promote reconciliation between two warring systems.
Our Take
A surprisingly effective character piece despite the creepy premise of a woman literally bred to be a gift. Patrick Stewart and Famke Janssen sell the attraction with real restraint, and the ending lands because Picard actually behaves like Picard. It drags in the middle with some tired Ferengi nonsense, but the core dilemma holds up better than you’d expect. Worth a watch.
