Summary
Captain Picard, Data and Dr. Crusher are trapped in a holodeck program as 1940’s detectives during a holdeck malfunction that interferes with a meeting with a alien species that requires the captain only.
Our Take
The holodeck malfunctions again, but this one has real charm thanks to the Dixon Hill noir setting and Picard actually getting to play something looser than usual. The trap itself has no real tension since we all know how it ends, and the alien subplot feels like filler. Still, a pleasant hour with some fun performances.
