Summary
When one of Pike’s officers goes missing while on a secret mission for Starfleet, Pike has to come out of self imposed exile. He must navigate how to rescue his officer, while struggling with what to do with the vision of the future he’s been given.
Our Take
A confident, well-paced pilot that knows exactly what it wants to be. Anson Mount’s Pike is instantly likable, and the episodic format feels like a breath of fresh air after years of serialized Trek. The plot is fairly standard rescue stuff, but the character work and the Enterprise’s warm, retro-futurist look carry it. Worth your time.
