Summary

While on a mission, Lorca unexpectedly finds himself in the company of prisoner of war, Starfleet Lieutenant Ash Tyler and notorious intergalactic criminal, Harry Mudd. Burnham voices her concerns about the repercussions of the spore drive jumps on “Ripper”.

Our Take

This one splits its time between Lorca’s captivity subplot and the ship’s ethical hand-wringing, and the balance mostly holds. The tardigrade dilemma finally gives the crew a real moral argument instead of technobabble, and Rainn Wilson clearly has fun as Mudd without hijacking the hour. It drags a bit in the middle, but the character work pays off. Worth a watch.
