Summary
When a Cardassian freighter, the Bok’Nor, explodes at DS9, the Cardassians blame Federation colonists in the newly established Demilitarized Zone. Meanwhile, Quark is approached by a Vulcan with an unusual business proposition.
Our Take
A rare episode that turns Star Trek’s own ideals into the problem, and it’s better for it. The political setup feels genuinely knotty instead of contrived, and the Quark scenes sneak in a surprisingly sharp bit of philosophy about peace and profit. It’s mostly table-setting for part two, but the tension builds so well you won’t mind. Worth your time.
