Episode Summary & Review
Summary
In 2369, Cardassian forces finally withdraw from 70 years of Bajoran occupation — on the edge of explored space, a new crew takes command of a former Cardassian space station and makes an incredible discovery that will change the galaxy.
Our Take
A clunky pilot that spends most of its runtime setting up furniture. The Sisko backstory is heavy-handed, and the Cardassian handover feels more talked about than dramatized. Still, Avery Brooks and the wormhole sequence give it some real weight, and the station’s grimy, occupied vibe is a nice change from the Enterprise’s carpeting. Worth it for where the show eventually goes, not for this hour itself.
