Episode Summary & Review
Summary
A tale told in flashback concerning the childhood training of Samurai Jack in Africa. But even as part the Nubian tribe, the young prince is not safe from Aku’s minions.
Our Take
A quiet change of pace that fills in Jack’s past without adding much we didn’t already assume. The African setting gives the animators some lovely scenery to play with, and the bond between young Jack and his mentor lands nicely, but the Aku minions feel like an obligatory villain beat in an otherwise contemplative story. Worth a watch for fans of the training arc, though it won’t change anyone’s mind about the season.
